Job Summary & Job Duties

  • Position Summary
    Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment: Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates. Determines space requirements and position of shipment in containers and trucks and lays out position of shipment. Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas. Compiles records of unfilled orders. Performs other duties as needed. May assist workers in shipping and receiving activities.

    ● Manage, maintain and/or improve current shipping activities based on business needs and process improvements.
  • Drive the continuous improvement in optimizing replenishment min/max to assure material is in the right place at the right time to meet customer ship dates.
  • Collaborates with the Plant Leadership on Strategic Planning initiatives, Forecasting, and Budgeting requirements as it relates to inventory.
  • Identify process waste and lead teams efforts to continuously improve as a part of the organization’s culture, rather than as a directive.
  • Identifying variances from established standards for material and labor usage and coordinating reporting and their resolution
  • Perform analysis, data entry and problem-solving to improve shipping KPI’s. Maintain appropriate documentation as needed.
  • Maintains close liaison with Supply Chain, SIOP, Manufacturing, Finance, and IT.
  • Analyze and interpret Key Performance Indicators to identify and execute plans for improvement.  
  • Understand the flow of inventory from an end-to-end process both physically and systematically for better root-cause analysis, and to assist in making process and/or system improvements accordingly.
  • Lead the organization and maintenance of warehouse and storage space. 
  • Lead and participate in Continuous Improvement events to implement Lean concepts such as Kanban and visual management systems.
  • Analyze situations to determine the root cause of problems. Create innovative solutions to address challenges.
  • Lead and motivate stakeholders and key contributors through influence and collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5-10 years Shipping/Receiving & Logistics, or Manufacturing Operations management experience in a LEAN environment required
  • NetSuite experience preferred
  • LEAN certification preferred (Green Belt, Black Belt)
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • A passion for employee development and improvement
  • Excellent Team Building Skills for diverse groups
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and ability to communicate with those at all levels
  • Strategic Planning experience preferred
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort moves/lifts heavy equipment/supplies
  • Prolonged extensive, or considerable standing/walking
  • Lifts supplies equipment up to 35 pounds
  • Pushes/pulls or moves/lifts heavy equipment and supplies
  • Manual dexterity and mobility
  • Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
  • Moderate exposure to warm temperature and humidity variations throughout the year
