Responsible for purchasing materials based on the needs of the business. Ensuring that the right materials are in stock at the right time to satisfy customer needs.
This role involves managing inventory levels, negotiating with suppliers and coordinating with internal teams to meet customer demands.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to conceptualize the direction of the given product line and develop plans of action to achieve the department and overall business goals.
- Generate and maintain the detailed planning, forecasting, ordering and analyzing tools for the given product line. Determining stocking strategies and stock the correct products at the correct levels.
- Purchase order management including placement, confirming, tracking, changing and expediting if necessary.
- Consider the impact of decisions made to the overall business and the business goals.
- Obtain quotes from vendors as needed for placing orders and as needed for the sales team.
- Work with and manage vendors on a daily basis to obtain the best pricing, lead time and quality.
- Work with department manager to create score cards and rate vendors on their performance.
- Working in our erp and warehouse systems.
- Proactive sourcing to improve pricing, quality and availability. Ensure that products are second sourced.
- Ability to work with all of the departments to ensure a smooth flow of product in and out.
- Responsible for managing and maintaining vendor and product information in the erp system.
- Receive in product. Help troubleshoot any inventory and quality issues to a resolution. Responsible for adjusting inventory in erp.
- Facilitate the annual physical inventory.
- Work towards the department’s and business KPI’s.
- Work with accounts payable on any invoicing issues to a resolution.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Other duties as assigned by Manager.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or combination of education/experience in lieu of degree.
- 5-10 years of planning/procurement experience preferred
- APICS certification preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office. Working knowledge of Excel vlookup, pivot tables and formulas highly desired.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to interact with all levels of staff and suppliers
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Must be a self-starter able to multitask, with excellent attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Experience with ERP systems.
