Job Summary
The Shipping and Receiving Team Lead provides day‑to‑day work direction to support safe, accurate, and efficient shipping, receiving, and material handling operations. This role coordinates daily workflow, prioritizes tasks, resolves operational issues, and reinforces safety and standard work to meet manufacturing and customer commitments. Serving in an indirect leadership capacity and reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Team Lead owns ERP transaction accuracy for assigned areas and partners cross‑functionally to drive reliable execution and continuous improvement.

Provide leadership, guidance, and coordination of daily activities for team members by assigning tasks, monitoring workflow, and supporting safe and efficient execution.
Monitor workflow, assign tasks, and optimize workloads to maintain efficiency and quality.
Support and oversee assigned training and onboarding activities, ensuring completion and escalating gaps or concerns to the Supervisor or Product Line Leader.
Ensure team adherence to safety protocols and company policies, promptly addressing unsafe conditions and escalating violations or incidents to leadership.
Independently troubleshoot and resolve shipping, receiving, and inventory issues; implement corrective actions within defined authority and escalate complex or systemic issues with recommendations to management.
Monitor and support Trade Compliance throughout shipping processes, including accurate preparation of export documentation.
Assist in proper use of customer portals to ensure accurate and timely transactions.
Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives (5S, kaizen, visual management), identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to enhance operational performance.
Act as a cross‑functional lead, coordinating with operations, quality, planning, and engineering to resolve issues and improve end‑to‑end material flow.
Utilize MRP/ERP systems and ensure accurate transactions across shipping, receiving, and inventory activities.
Monitor inventory levels, facilitate cycle counts, and assist in resolving discrepancies.
Inspect inbound freight, document damages, and assist with freight claim resolution.
Operate material handling equipment safely to support warehouse and production needs.
Support ROPE teams and contribute to root‑cause problem solving.
Team Leads do not have authority for performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, hiring decisions, pay changes, attendance approval, or overtime authorization. These responsibilities remain with Supervisors and Product Line Leaders.
Job Competencies & Qualifications:
Safely operate a sit-down forklift
Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Infor, Epicor, Macola etc.)
Understanding of barcoding, scanning, and inventory control systems
Prioritizing multiple deadlines
Managing competing workloads
Manual dexterity for handling materials, packaging, etc.
Requirements:
High School diploma/GED required.
Associate degree in manufacturing, operations, or related field preferred.
3-5 years of experience in shipping & Receiving in a manufacturing or relevant production environment required.
Leadership experience within production, assembly, machining, or specialized areas preferred.
Forklift certification (OSHA compliant) preferred.
Experience with cycle counting or inventory control preferred.
