Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the Senior Category Buyer plays a critical role in driving a resilient, cost‑effective, and high‑performing supply chain for STEMCO and Enpro. This role blends strategic category leadership with hands‑on execution, focusing on optimizing total cost, mitigating risk, improving working capital, and ensuring quality and on‑time delivery.

As a trusted supply chain leader, you will serve as the subject matter expert for assigned categories, build strong partnerships with key suppliers, and influence global sourcing strategies. You’ll collaborate cross‑functionally, mentor buyers, and lead initiatives that strengthen our competitive position while supporting continuous improvement across the organization.

What You’ll Do:

  • Use supply chain analytics and sourcing tools to assess the supply base, analyze strategic spend, and identify cost‑saving opportunities while ensuring reliable supply.
  • Develop and execute category strategies that reduce risk, improve supply chain performance, and deliver measurable, sustainable results.
  • Mentor and support team capability by training and onboarding new buyers.
  • Build and strengthen supplier partnerships that optimize total cost, reduce risk, and drive long‑term value.
  • Establish and maintain strategic supplier alliances that enhance competitiveness and resilience.
  • Optimize the supply base through supplier selection, rationalization, and standardization initiatives.
  • Lead category teams through effective negotiations to secure cost‑competitive materials and services aligned with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to improve processes, alignment, and overall business performance.
  • Support tactical purchasing activities as needed to ensure uninterrupted flow of materials, services, and supplies.
  • Drive supplier performance through quarterly scorecard reviews and continuous improvement actions.
  • Improve working capital performance by reducing inventory exposure, shortening lead times, and negotiating favorable commercial terms.

What You’ll Bring:

  • BS/BA in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics/Operations, Engineering or other related field. An appropriate combination of education and directly related experience is acceptable if the ability to perform duties and responsibilities is demonstrated.
  • Vendor Management experience
  • CPSM Certification or equivalent required.
  • Experience working in an ISO/Quality Management System environment preferred.
  • 5-7 years’ experience with demonstrated ability to perform essential functions.
  • Able to work dynamically in a cross-functional environment
  • Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience optimizing Supply Chain attributes through the application of Lean tools and techniques.
  • Experience working in a matrix reporting structure organization is preferred.
