Job Summary
Manual Machinist IV – Shift Leader is responsible for having a good working knowledge of
product lines in which they lead. They will manage manufacturing issues and escalate to
management, maintenance, or engineering as needed. In addition, this person must ensure
associates observe prescribed safety precautions. This is a hands-on leadership role where the
Shift Leader will be a supervisor and potentially work alongside other associates within the shift.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities
necessary to meet the minimum job requirements of this position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
● Perform all duties of a Manual Machinist III.
● Drive safe operations by identifying safety risks and adhering to safety procedures,
requirements and regulations.
● Drives production plan execution through scheduling and assigning personnel, driving
results throughout Quality, Cost, Delivery, Morale and Safety plus Innovation
● Leverage a visual management system to monitor progress and proactively resolve
problems
● Focuses on talent development through recruiting, training and growth opportunities
● Maintains and enforces organizational quality standards in accordance with applicable
regulations and policies.
● Serves as the area MRP representative
● Champions the “continuous improvement” and LEAN programs to improve, increase
throughput and identify cost reductions.
Preferred Qualifications:
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
● High School diploma/GED or Vocational School equivalent Required: Understands basic
safety standards and policies
● Minimum of 7 years of machining experience and demonstrated expertise in precision
machining
● Minimum of 3 years demonstrated ability to lead all aspects of machine operations.
● Ability to utilize and interpret precision measuring equipment
● Must be a master in manual machines, including the ability to machine and set-up highly
complex components with lathes and/or mills
● Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Experience
● Must possess strong attention to detail and communication skills
● Trade Certification (preferred)

● Forklift experience and certification (preferred)
● Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present
information and respond to questions
● Ability to train others to plan, perform, and make decisions as to the sequence of setups,
operations, and processes within the limitations of recognized or standard methods, for the
product line(s) in which the associate leads
● Must be self-motivated, self-directed and have the ability to work well as a part of a team
