Job Summary & Job Duties
Maintenance & Equipment Operations
• Lead and perform installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of facility and production equipment.
• Operate within the CMMS system to manage work orders and schedule preventative maintenance tasks.
• Maintain and repair air compressors, air dryers, vacuum systems, rinse water lift stations, and support tanks.
• Operate and maintain the Wastewater Treatment System, cyanide rinse water neutralization system, and sludge filter cake press.
• Complete daily logs for wastewater treatment, batch treatment, and air permit tracking (e.g., Isopropyl Alcohol, Acetone).
• Conduct weekly roof inspections to ensure scrubber exhaust systems and fans are functioning properly.
• Perform monthly roof washdowns; treat wash waters in the Wastewater Treatment Unit.
Hazardous Materials & Environmental Compliance
• Safely transfer hazardous and non-hazardous waste liquids and solids into approved containers.
• Offload hazardous materials trucks and segregate by hazard class into appropriate storage locations.
• Manage universal hazardous waste (batteries, lamps, electronic waste) and ensure proper labeling, condition, and closure of all containers.
• Monitor hazardous waste accumulation dates and ensure timely shipment (within 90 days).
• Triple rinse and recycle empty 55-gallon drums and verify smaller containers are empty before recycling.
• Maintain clean and compliant chemical and hazardous waste storage areas.
• Complete CUPA inspection logs (daily, weekly, monthly) and stormwater inspections with sample collection.
• Conduct monthly fire extinguisher inspections and weekly emergency eyewash/shower checks.
• Maintain spill kits and assist lab personnel with chemical inventory and reordering needs.
Safety, Compliance & Emergency Response
• Follow directions from direct supervisor and complete all assigned regulatory and safety training.
• Wear required PPE at all times on the manufacturing floor.
• Participate in 24/7 Emergency Response Team activities (fire alarms, spills, evacuations).
• Conduct daily floor walks to identify spills, blocked emergency equipment, and wet surfaces to prevent slips and falls.
• Inspect and maintain secondary containment systems; pump out and dispose of collected liquids appropriately.
• Help maintain clear emergency egress paths and unblocked exit doors.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and performance across all operations.
Technical & Administrative Support
• Use hand tools
• Collaborate with engineering to evaluate and support new equipment installations.
• Submit proposals and recommendations for equipment upgrades and process improvements.
• Update internal systems for asset disposal, procurement, and equipment changes.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and document Preventive Maintenance Instructions (PMIs).
• Assist with general maintenance activities as requested.
Equipment Handling & Logistics
• Operate a forklift; complete training and conduct daily inspections.
• Load hazardous waste onto transportation vendor trucks.
• Complete weekly water flow-meter readings (influent and effluent).
Additional Requirements
- A valid California Driver’s License is required for this role, as driving company vehicles (e.g., forklifts, hazardous waste transport) is an essential job function.
- Alternative transportation methods are not feasible due to the nature of the tasks and time sensitivity.
- Completion of all required safety and compliance training, including harassment prevention and workplace violence training, is mandatory.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment/materials
Physical capability to work in industrial environments.
Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
For equipment maintenance and repair.
Experience with hand tools and power tools
Ability to work in indoor/outdoor environments in various weather conditions
Basic understanding of safety protocols and PPE usage
Ability to complete regulatory logs and documentation accurately
Willingness to participate in 24/7 emergency response activities
Ability to complete required safety and compliance training
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in industrial maintenance or facilities operations
Experience operating and maintaining wastewater treatment systems
Forklift certification
Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
Knowledge of hazardous waste handling and environmental compliance (CUPA, stormwater, etc.)
Familiarity with air permit tracking and chemical inventory systems
Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel, maintenance tracking software)
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Experience collaborating with engineering teams on equipment installations
OSHA 10 or 30 certification
