POSITION SUMMARY
The Operations Technician II supports all aspects of the thin film manufacturing process. This includes but is not limited to coating, metrology, fabrication, parts cleaning & assembly, incoming and final inspection, data interpretation, and data entry. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations & Manufacturing
- Perform manufacturing operations across multiple departments, including Assembly, Cleaning, Coating, Fabrication, Final Inspection, Marking, and Metrology
- Safely handle fragile optical components ranging from 1 mm to 450 mm and weighing up to 25 kg
- Assemble fixtures, tooling, and parts; set up and calibrate tools and equipment as required
- Develop, review, and maintain manufacturing documentation in collaboration with engineering and peers (work instructions, operation procedures, job safety/hazard analysis, etc.
- Perform advanced equipment and process troubleshooting to maintain production flow
Quality, Inspection & Data
- Perform product and machine inspections using visual, mechanical, and metrology tools
- Analyze process and inspection data; document results and escalate abnormalities to appropriate personnel
- Enter manufacturing data and generate reports using Adobe PDF tools, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Teams, and other manufacturing systems
Training, Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Train and support new and existing employees as assigned
- Serve as a technical resource and core knowledge team member in one or more work areas
- Identify opportunities for improvement in safety, quality, process efficiency, and sustainability; participate in implementation efforts and cross functional teams
- Lead assigned processes or workgroups when required
Other
- Adhere to company quality, environmental, sustainability, and safety policies
- Maintain GMP, housekeeping, and sanitation standards in all work areas
- Obtain and maintain required certifications, licenses, and qualifications
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or management
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline; mechanical or electrical engineering, material science or physics preferred; OR 3 years’ experience in 2 of the following areas in thin film optical manufacturing: coating, metrology disposition, cleaning, parts assembly, inspection, or fabrication; OR 5 years’ experience in any manufacturing environment, high tech preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Basic math skills, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing, including percentages and decimals; can understand basic geometric concepts e.g., angles and shapes
- Skilled in the use of material management systems, databases, Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook, SharePoint, Adobe PDFs, and file directory architecture
- Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting, and executing detailed instructions, and short correspondence (e.g., e-mails, texts, instant messaging)
- Skilled in writing simple, informational, and technical correspondence
- Team oriented and driven to meet goals and improve processes
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Can multitask and work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Must maintain satisfactory attendance, including timeliness
- U.S. Person per EAR Part 772 AND ITAR 120.15
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in developing Standard Operating Procedures, Job Safety/Hazard Analysis, or Work Instructions
- Experience participating in regulatory audits (ISO, ITAR, CalOSHA, etc.,)
- Experience participating in safety & sustainability walks and checks
- Experience leading small projects and teams, managing competing priorities
- Mechanical/scientific aptitude or interests
- Self-starter/works well alone and with limited supervision
- Familiar with lean manufacturing methods/tools (5-s, root cause analysis, continuous improvement cycle)
- Some college, Associate's Degree in STEM discipline; mechanical or electrical engineering, material science, or physics preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work within a manufacturing environment; moderate temperature and noise level, occasionally elevated
- Ability to remain in a seated or standing position for the duration of the scheduled shift, as required by job duties
- Ability to handle delicate optical components and precision tools with fine manual control while adhering to contamination control and handling protocols
- Ability to perform overhead and elevated tasks, including ladder work, requiring physical capability to maintain stability, reach, and control while adhering to safety standards
- Be able to work in various positions, including but not limited to, reaching, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods; be able to perform highly repetitive tasks with hands while standing or sitting for up to 10 hours
- Comfortable working with solvents, cleaning agents, lasers, sharp instruments, and high-temperature equipment, following all safety and part handling protocols
- Visual acuity for close and mid-range tasks, including viewing small components and using a microscope
- Required to wear a respirator, hairnet, face mask, gloves, and clean room suit when necessary
- Be able to work extended hours (overtime) when required
- Be able to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks
- Must be able to lift and/or move 35 pounds of weight on occasion

Alluxa/Enpro carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors including the background, education, training, and experience required, as well as geographic considerations such as cost of labor, and applicable local and state laws. These considerations can cause offered compensation to vary. The hiring range for this position is typically $23.00 - $31.00/hourly. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate. Bonus and/or incentives may be eligible for this position.
