As a Supply Chain Intern, you’ll work side‑by‑side with purchasing, engineering, and quality teams to help source materials, evaluate suppliers, analyze market trends, and support continuous improvement projects. Full Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Supply Chain Intern supports Garlock’s Purchasing and Supply Chain teams by assisting with sourcing activities, supplier communication, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role provides hands‑on experience in procurement, supplier management, and manufacturing operations while contributing to Garlock’s commitment to quality, cost control, and operational excellence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with supplier research, including gathering quotations, comparing pricing, and evaluating delivery capabilities.
  • Support the Purchasing team in reviewing sources of supply, preparing RFQs, and communicating with potential suppliers.
  • Help analyze market trends, material availability, and pricing data to support sourcing decisions.
  • Participate in quality and engineering discussions related to purchased materials, including reviewing defects and corrective actions.
  • Assist with purchase order creation, data entry, editing, and distribution.
  • Support follow‑up on critical or time‑sensitive orders to ensure on‑time delivery.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects, including cost‑reduction initiatives, supplier development, and process documentation.
  • Learn and support shipping, receiving, and logistics processes to better understand end‑to‑end supply chain flow.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Supply Chain operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations, or related field
  • Prior internship or project experience in supply chain or manufacturing is a plus
  • Interest in procurement, supplier management, or manufacturing operations
  • Ability to work full‑time during the summer internship period
