GENERAL NATURE OF JOB:
To procure raw materials, finished goods, parts and services at optimum cost and delivery for the Houston facility, in accordance with established company and divisional objectives. Develop and maintain “world class” supply chain practices and standardize best practices in the field of Procurement in all operations. Facilitate similar responsibilities within the scope of Enpro Global Supply Chain & Operations, when required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Review source of supply and quotations of various suppliers for authorized purchase requisitions, sends requests for quotations and interviews potential suppliers, and selects suppliers who best meet the quality, price and delivery requirements.
- Place PO’s timely, based on inventory management criteria, and coordinate deliveries.
- Cooperates with engineers, production, quality, and others as assigned to draw up specifications, tolerances, as required to meet the material requirements of the business.
- Builds and maintains relationships with a wide range of suppliers, including strategic partnerships. Negotiates contracts for special needs and requirements.
- Strategic, long-term acquisition of goods and services.
- Managing supplier relationships and optimizing the procurement process, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
- Conducts study of business and market conditions and analyzes information on material, supply, price trends, and government rules and regulations.
- Discusses defects of purchased goods with Quality Assurance or Engineering personnel to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
- Follows-up on important and urgently needed items to ensure specified delivery dates.
- Participates in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize the company’s materials management processes.
- Ability to conceptualize the direction of assigned commodities and develops plans of action to achieve the goals and objectives of the group.
- Stay up to date on industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Ability to develop and implement new ideas to meet the business plan.
- Ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations issued by OSHA, EPA and federal, state and local regulatory agencies, as well as customer specifications.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- College degree desirable. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in knowledge and understanding of the total procurement process.
- Strong negotiation skills to aggressively close deals that positively affect bottom-line results.
- Proven ability to develop and manage supplier relationships.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Computer skills in MSOffice and ERP systems
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong listening, interpersonal and communication skills for communicating upward, downward, and horizontal messages.
- Good knowledge of the products and manufacturing processes.
