Job Summary & Job Duties
The CNC Machinist III is a senior-level position responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining complex CNC machinery to produce precision components according to engineering specifications. This role requires advanced knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and materials, as well as the ability to interpret blueprints, troubleshoot equipment, and mentor junior machinists.
The CNC Machinist III works independently with minimal supervision and plays a key role in ensuring production efficiency, quality control, and continuous improvement. This position may also assist in programming CNC machines and collaborating with engineering and quality teams to optimize manufacturing processes.
Salary Range - $35.00 -$41.50
Minimum Qualifications
Must have the personality and temperament to work as part of a team. The individual will be required to work on a variety of CNC machine tools working on all parts from simple to complex under the guidance of their supervisor and Lead.
• General Housekeeping including keeping machines and work area, both clean & safe.
• Willingness to assist team members especially those with less experience.
• When possible, operate multiple machines to maximize production hours.
• Work closely with Programmers and Engineering team on product development, processes, tooling selection and fixture design.
• Monitor and replace cutting tools as needed.
• Monitor machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls as needed.
• Responsible for using MES to accurately track production activity and monitor work queues.
• Assist Lead person as needed.
• Sign off Work order operations and physically move parts to next operation.
Preferred Qualifications:
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Machinist.
• Ability to read and understand complex blueprints and work instructions and check parts at the machine using basic measuring tools.
• A working knowledge of G and M codes and a full understanding of tool offsets and cutter compensation.
• Possess good communication skills which include verbal and written to interface effectively with other employees or management.
• Must be able to lift/pull/push up to 35 pounds.
• Exposure to shop elements such as noise, dust, and chemicals, with protective equipment provided as needed.
• Must be able to wear the necessary PPE (safety glasses, safety shoes, ear plugs, etc.)
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Overtime and weekends could be required during heavy workload or to meet special customer demand.
