General Overview
The Applications Engineer is primarily responsible for delivering technical product application support to customers and the sales team. The role also involves providing broader engineering assistance across the business, contributing to product development, process improvement, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Application Engineering
- Respond to product application inquiries and provide tailored engineering solutions and product recommendations.
- Deliver analytical and technical support for customer issues and internal sales requirements.
- Analyse pump sealing applications and recommend performance improvements.
- Conduct technical training sessions, product installations, and workshops.
- Perform site visits with customers and field representatives to assess equipment, conduct surveys, and offer engineering support.
- Address technical issues related to product quality and functionality.
Design & Documentation
- Create and maintain 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software.
- Conduct inspections of incoming and outgoing goods and issue certificates of conformance.
- Ensure product information, documentation, and specifications are accurate and up to date.
- Maintain compliance with relevant industry, product, and process standards.
Data Analysis & Process Improvement
- Develop and maintain Excel-based tools for costing, pricing, and product selection.
- Support pricing strategies through sales and pricing data analysis.
- Assist in maintaining ISO 9001:2015 certification and the Quality Assurance Manual.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of inventory parts and BOMs in the Pronto ERP system.
- Support product launches and marketing initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and enhance operational efficiency.
Additional Responsibilities
- Build expertise in product management and ERP (Pronto) systems.
- Maximise the use of Microsoft Office 365 tools to streamline workflows.
- Document and map engineering and operational processes; participate in process reviews.
- Develop tools and procedures to support engineering functions.
- Participate in stocktakes and other project-based tasks as directed.
- Maintain accurate records and perform general administrative duties.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in an engineering role (preferred).
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD (intermediate level).
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; VBA experience preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data analysis capabilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Industrial experience and product knowledge are highly desirable.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive learning mindset.
- Commitment to working within Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) guidelines.
