OPPORTUNITY

AlpHa Measurement Solutions recognizes the need to improve its environmental, health, and safety programs and evolve our overall safety culture. We are seeking a driven, hands-on Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator to support the development and strengthening of our EHS processes and culture at our Houston manufacturing site. This role is critical in shaping an injury-free, environmentally responsible workplace by partnering closely with operational teams and site leadership. The ideal candidate is a visible safety advocate – someone who not only understands regulations, but actively influences behavior, builds trust, and drives engagement on the production floor. The pace of progress in strengthening AlpHa’s safety culture will be directly influenced by the energy, ownership, and advocacy of this role.

Our global headquarters is conveniently located in Houston at the southwest intersection of I-69 and Sam Houston Tollway, just north of Sugar Land.

This individual will report to the Director of Operations.

Classification​:  Salaried/Exempt, Full-Time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and as required to maintain business momentum.

 Position Summary

The EHS Coordinator is responsible for supporting all aspects of environmental, health, and safety performance at AlpHa’s Houston facility. Working closely with site leadership, this role helps to (a) drive toward zero injuries and incidents, (b) ensure full regulatory compliance, including reporting, (c) deploy and sustain Enpro EHS programs and standards, (d) build a proactive, accountable, and engaged safety culture. This position requires a balance of technical expertise, frontline engagement, and the ability to influence without direct authority.

Essential Functions

 Safety Leadership & Culture

  • Act as a visible and credible safety advocate across the site
  • Partner with leadership to drive accountability for EHS performance
  • Promote a culture focused on prevention, engagement, and continuous improvement
  • Lead and support safety initiatives including toolbox talks, safety observations, and stand-down events
  • Coach employees and leaders to strengthen safety awareness and ownership

Production Floor Engagement

  • Maintain consistent presence on the production floor (majority of workforce) along with all other departments
  • Identify hazards and partner with teams to implement practical, sustainable solutions
  • Reinforce safe behaviors through observation, coaching, and real-time feedback

EHS Compliance & Program Execution

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, RCRA, and DOT HAZMAT regulations (among others)
  • Maintain required permits, records, and regulatory reporting
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of Enpro EHS systems and processes
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure accuracy of EHS data and compliance

Incident Management & Risk Reduction

  • Maintain and coordinate JSAs and JHAs
  • Lead/support incident and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis
  • Track corrective actions and ensure timely closure
  • Analyze trends to proactively identify and mitigate risks

Training & Capability Building

  • Identify EHS training needs and deliver effective, practical training programs
  • Ensure completion and tracking of required certifications
  • Translate regulatory and technical requirements into understandable, actionable guidance

Environmental & Hazardous Materials Management

  • Ensure our site has required environmental permits and that reporting requirements are maintained
  • Support proper handling, labeling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials
  • Partner with supply chain and operations to minimize environmental impact and risk

Emergency Preparedness & Response

  • Maintain Emergency Action and Fire Prevention Plans
  • Coordinate drills and readiness activities
  • Support site first responders and emergency response capabilities

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with Enpro EHS network (the “Community of Practice) to leverage best practices
  • Communicate effectively with leadership regarding risks, priorities, and progress
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve EHS systems, processes, and culture

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of an associate degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field and at least 8-10+ years of experience
  • Or a bachelor degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field and minimum 2-5+ years of experience
  • Technical understanding of OSHA, RCRA, DEC, EPA and DOT HAZMAT regulations and compliance requirements
  • Experience with incident investigation, audits, and compliance systemsExperience supporting production-heavy operations
  • Familiarity with chemical handling, lab-adjacent manufacturing, or precision assembly environments
  • PC skills, MS Office, comfortable learning new software
  • Excellent organizational skills (this role requires meticulous record-keeping)
  • Experience working directly with production teams
  • Comfortable speaking to larger groups and leading training
  • Must be comfortable working with, leading, and driving diverse team members
  • Able to travel periodically for training and for best practice sharing within Enpro
