Join Enpro as a CNC Machinist I and support the Production Team by learning CNC lathe and mill operations, producing high-quality close-tolerance parts, and helping drive safe, reliable manufacturing performance. 

The CNC Machinist I is an entry-level manufacturing role responsible for performing basic lathe and mill tasks, learning CNC machine operations, and supporting production needs across the shop. This position helps produce machined parts, assemblies, tooling, jigs, and fixtures while developing technical skills in setup, inspection, troubleshooting, and machine operation. The role contributes to safe, efficient, and high-quality production within the Deland site. 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Perform machine setups, tool changes, and minor program modifications under supervision. 

  • Operate and adjust manual and CNC machines to produce machined parts, assemblies, tooling, jigs, and fixtures. 

  • Perform routine in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement tools. 

  • Verify machine settings by measuring positions and first-run pieces against required standards. 

  • Use drawings, sketches, verbal instructions, and written instructions to safely produce high-quality, close-tolerance parts. 

  • Detect defects and assist with troubleshooting basic machine or process issues. 

  • Maintain safe operations by identifying safety risks and following safety procedures, requirements, and regulations. 

  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow 5S standards. 

  • Assist with basic machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and assigned preventative maintenance activities. 

  • Document daily tasks using designated logs or systems. 

  • Participate in continuous improvement activities focused on process improvement, throughput, and cost reduction.

What You’ll Bring: 

Required qualifications: 

 

  • High school diploma or GED. 

  • 0–1 years of machining experience. 

  • Basic tool and mechanical aptitude. 

  • Ability to read and understand basic blueprints. 

  • Ability to perform basic shop math. 

  • Basic experience with blueprint reading, G-code, and precision measurement tools. 

  • Ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical issues and make basic machine adjustments within predefined tolerances. 

  • Preferred: Trade certification.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to regularly communicate. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle material, as well as reach with hands and arms (including overhead). The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
