Maintenance Supervisor – Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the maintenance and facilities team responsible for production equipment, including atmospheric plasma spray systems, spray booths, robotic manipulators, dust collectors, chillers, compressors, gas delivery systems, grit blast equipment, powder spray equipment, curing ovens, and anodizing equipment. Ensure equipment operates safely, reliably, and within process control standards required for coating quality.
- Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs for plasma power supplies, spray systems, robotic arms, booth ventilation systems, water‑cooling circuits, clean rooms, DI water plants, and anodizing tanks. Ensure all PM tasks follow OEM and internal standards and are documented for audit readiness.
- Troubleshoot and repair electromechanical systems, including plasma systems, robotic systems, thermal spray feeders, PLC‑controlled equipment, HVAC, pumps, and facility utilities critical to production.
- Maintain and repair the facility’s structure, utilities, and support infrastructure, including electrical distribution, compressed air, chilled water, gas cabinets, exhaust systems, minor carpentry, painting, and plumbing as needed.
- Respond rapidly to equipment or facility emergencies, particularly those affecting employee safety, production equipment, or environmental controls. Lead root‑cause analysis for equipment failures and drive corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure strict compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local/state regulations, especially those related to high‑temperature processes, flammable gases, ventilation, dust control, confined spaces, hazardous waste, and respiratory protection.
- Ensure required facility and equipment safety inspections (spray booths, gas delivery, cranes/hoists, dust collectors, HVAC, fire‑suppression systems) are completed on schedule and properly documented.
- Manage relationships with vendors, OEMs, and contractors for equipment repairs, calibrations, PM contracts, and facility upgrades. Coordinate scheduling to minimize production downtime.
- Enforce proper use of equipment manuals, SOPs, and work instructions to ensure maintenance tasks meet engineering and OEM requirements, especially for equipment critical to coating and cleaning quality and process repeatability.
- Ensure team participation in safety training, including high voltage, high‑pressure gases, ovens, rotating equipment, respirable dust, PPE requirements, and emergency‑response procedures.
- Work closely with the EHS Manager to ensure thermal spray operations, dust‑control systems, waste streams, and ventilation systems meet all regulatory and corporate safety standards.
- Collaborate with shop floor personnel, Manufacturing Engineers, Coatings Engineers, and the Facilities/Maintenance team to identify process improvements, equipment upgrades, and reliability initiatives that support production throughput and product quality.
- Improve equipment uptime, utilization, calibration readiness, and overall shop organization, including tool management, spare‑parts inventory, and maintenance‑record accuracy.
- Supervise, mentor, coach, and evaluate the performance of maintenance technicians. Set expectations for response time, documentation quality, professionalism, teamwork, and safe work practices.
