Job Summary 

The Manufacturing Engineer supports the evaluation, improvement, and documentation of machining and manufacturing processes to enable safe, efficient, and repeatable production. This role applies established engineering principles and standard practices to support process improvements, tooling implementation, and production readiness activities. The position collaborates with cross‑functional teams to ensure design for manufacturability, accurate manufacturing documentation, and reliable ERP/MRP production data, while receiving moderate guidance on more complex assignments. The Manufacturing Engineer contributes to troubleshooting, continuous improvement efforts, and quality system support within established engineering and organizational standards.

  • Evaluate, develop, and improve machining and manufacturing methods to support safe, efficient, and repeatable production. 

  • Support Kaizen events, Lean work cell improvements, cost reduction efforts, and manufacturing improvement initiatives under the guidance of senior engineering or operations leadership. 

  • Design and implement innovative manufacturing solutions from concept through production, commercialization, and customer delivery. 

  • Collaborate with Design Engineers and product line teams to ensure design for manufacturability. 

  • Provide technical support to internal and external customers, suppliers, and cross‑functional stakeholders. 

  • Prepare manufacturing and design input for requests for quotation (RFQs) and purchase orders (POs). 

  • Participate in cross‑functional technical failure analysis and support troubleshooting of product and process issues affecting manufacturing and customers. 

  • Support coordination of product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling, equipment, assembly methods, and quality requirements to ensure manufacturable and repeatable processes. 

  • Partner with production and planning teams to ensure tooling and processes meet production needs. 

  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date documentation including SOPs, work instructions, routings, and process records. 

  • Collect and analyze manufacturing performance data and support the maintenance of production and process metrics. 

  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of process controls and quality systems to help identify and resolve production and quality issues. 

  • Maintain and update Manufacturing Engineering ERP/MRP data related to products, processes, and routings in accordance with established procedures. 

  • Actively participate in safety initiatives, continuous improvement activities, and assigned cross‑functional projects. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management. 

 

Job Competencies & Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated ability to solve manufacturing and process problems using established engineering principles and prior experience. 

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, and GD&T with guidance on complex or non‑standard features. 

  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical documents including drawings, routings, SOPs, and work instructions. 

  • Proficiency using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and indicators. 

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for conveying technical information and recommendations. 

  • Ability to communicate work status, priorities, and issues to engineering and operations stakeholders. 

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, production, quality, and supply chain teams. 

  • Demonstrates accountability, professionalism, and ownership of assigned tasks. 

  • Ability to work independently on routine assignments while receiving guidance on complex issues. 

  • Working knowledge of quality systems and manufacturing standards within a regulated environment. 

  • Commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and operational discipline. 

 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline with 2–4 years of relevant manufacturing or machining process experience required. 

  • In lieu of a degree, 5–7 years of progressively responsible manufacturing or machining experience may be considered. 

  • Experience supporting manufacturing processes within a machining environment (CNC and/or traditional machining) required. 

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and standard manufacturing documentation required. 

  • Working knowledge of process development, tooling support, and production readiness activities. 

  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks or similar) required. 

  • Experience working within established engineering, quality, and safety procedures required. 

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement tools preferred. 

  • Exposure to ISO9001, AS9100, or similar quality systems preferred. 

  • Experience maintaining data within ERP/MRP or manufacturing systems preferred.
