Job Summary
The Buyer/Planner is responsible for supporting production and customer demand through effective material planning, purchasing, and scheduling activities. This role utilizes MRP/ERP systems to manage raw material procurement, supplier performance, inventory levels, and production schedules while ensuring timely delivery and cost efficiency. The position works closely with cross‑functional teams and external suppliers to maintain material flow, resolve issues, and support manufacturing execution.

Obtain competitive supplier quotations prior to purchase order issuance to ensure cost‑effective sourcing.
Plan, issue, and manage purchase orders for raw materials and outside services required to support production requirements.
Proactively communicate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and outsourced services.
Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, including on‑time delivery, quality, lead times, and cost competitiveness.
Support resolution of supplier invoice variances in coordination with Finance.
Support execution of stocking strategies to meet material demand while maintaining target inventory levels.
Utilize MRP reporting to determine material requirements and drive purchasing and production planning decisions.
Create and maintain executable production schedules aligned to customer demand and available production capacity.
Review customer purchase orders prior to order entry to validate delivery dates and scheduling feasibility.
Maintain effective cross‑functional communication to ensure material flow continuity and provide production status updates.
Create and issue work order packets to the production floor to support accurate and timely execution.
Job Competencies & Qualifications:
MRP / ERP proficiency with strong Excel skills; ability to analyze data and support planning and purchasing decisions
Purchasing experience including supplier communication and price negotiation
Strong understanding of manufacturing, lean principles, lead‑time drivers, and supply chain concepts
High attention to detail with strong organizational skills in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
Ability to communicate clearly, collaborate cross‑functionally, and influence stakeholders at all levels
Ability to balance short‑term operational needs with long‑term business and capacity objectives
Proven ability to manage competing priorities, work independently or in teams, and drive decisions using data
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred.
Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
3–5 years of experience in purchasing, materials planning, supply chain, or manufacturing operations.
Hands‑on experience with MRP/ERP systems and strong Microsoft Excel proficiency.
Experience supporting production schedules, inventory management, and supplier coordination.
Manufacturing environment experience required.
CPIM/CSCP professional certification preferred.
