Job Summary 

The CNC Machinist is an entry-level position to perform lathe and mill tasks, learn all aspects of CNC operations, and fill in as needed in other areas supporting manufacturing as part of the Production Team.

Excellence: 

Promote the Sealing Technologies and Enpro culture around creating value and driving excellence in our organization by:  

  • Perform machine set-ups, tool changes, and minor program modifications under supervision. 

  • Produce machined parts, assemblies, tool jigs, and fixtures by operating and adjusting manual and CNC machines. 

  • Perform routine in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other precision tools. 

  • Verify machine settings by measuring positions and first-run pieces following standards and requirements. 

  • Utilize drawings, sketches, or verbal and written instructions to safely produce high-quality, close-tolerance parts while detecting defects and troubleshooting malfunctioning processes. 

  • Maintain safe operations by identifying safety risks and adhering to safety procedures, requirements, and regulations. 

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area, adhering to 5S standards. 

  • Assist with basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting. 

  • Perform minor machine preventative maintenance as assigned. 

  • Document daily tasks via designated logs or systems. 

  • Participate in continuous improvement programs to improve processes, increase throughput, and identify cost reductions. 

 

Job Competencies & Qualifications: 

  • Basic tool and mechanical aptitude 

  • Ability to read and understand basic blueprints 

  • Ability to perform basic shop math 

  • Minimal troubleshooting beyond basic mechanical issues 

  • Decisions limited to basic machine adjustments within predefined tolerances 

 

Requirements: 

  • High school diploma or GED (Required) 

  • 0-1 years of machining experience (Required) 

  • Trade certification (Preferred) 

  • Basic experience with blue print reading, G-code, and precision measurement tools
